Details

This garden design and build project was completed in October 2017 within a new residential development on Mount Anville Road, Dublin 14.

The Brief

The main elements of the client brief were to create a low maintenance, private garden with a play area and a separate seating/barbecue area located in a sunny position within the garden.

The Design

This design incorporates an upper and lower patio area and a play area.

The paving materials consist of large-sized silver granite flags and plank strips. Raised plant beds help define and enclose the spaces and provide a physical separation between the main patio area and the play area.

The play area itself includes a large playhouse and slide with storage underneath. This area is laid with an artificial lawn, ideal for avoiding those muddy boots especially in the winter months.

The walled perimeter of the garden is clad with custom fencing and wall lights. Spike lights are used for uplighting effect under the specimen trees.

The planting scheme consists of specimen trees, box balls, small ground cover shrubs and medium sized evergreen shrubs. One of the most impressive elements of this garden is the line of espalier ornamental pear trees, planted along the northern boundary of the garden, providing the garden with added shelter and privacy.
